Study Abroad: Annual scholarship up to Rs 9 lakh for Indian students in Ireland, applications will start in January

Study Abroad: At present the largest number of international students are Indian students. Especially Ireland is going to have the highest population of international Indian students. According to the latest data from global education platform Apply Board, a total of 4,735 Indian students have enrolled in Ireland for the year 2022-23, which is a 17.8% increase in students in a year. If this growth of Indian students continues, they will soon overtake American students and become the largest number of students. At a time when Ireland has become a popular study destination for Indian students, it has become important to know what kind of scholarships and government schemes are running here for foreign students. Especially in the context of Indian students.

Irish Government International Scholarships:
The Government of Ireland runs several international scholarship programs which are offered to meritorious students wishing to pursue master's or doctoral level studies here. Funds for this program are provided by the Government of Ireland in collaboration with the higher educational institutions present here. Under this scheme, every year 60 students are given scholarship for PhD level programme. Successful candidates must have a confirmed seat (offer of a place) at an Irish higher education institution. About 10,000 Euros i.e. about Rs 9 lakh 16 thousand are given in this scholarship. The application process for this scheme in Ireland will start from January 2024.

Educational institutions also give scholarships:
Higher educational institutions in Ireland also offer some special scholarships to foreign students. Indian students can also take advantage of these. Scholarship schemes of higher educational institutions differ from institution to institution.

Some of the special scholarships at the institutions are as follows:
1. Trinity College Dublin: Here students get partial scholarship ranging from 2 thousand Euros to 5000 Euros (€5,000) i.e. about four and a half lakh rupees annually. Here the first year college fees are also waived off along with scholarship to Indian meritorious students. But this scheme is applicable only in some courses.

2. University College Dublin (UCD): Global Excellence Scholarship is provided to foreign students taking admission here. Only those students can apply for this scheme who have taken admission in any program of UCD or have received an offer. The last date of application for students of Masters degree program under this scheme is 28th February 2024. Whereas for undergraduate course students, the last date of application is 31 March 2024. Global Excellence Scholarship is deposited by the institute in the form of tuition fee.

3. National College of Ireland: There are three types of scholarships for undergraduate students in this college. €2,000–4,000 are awarded annually to undergraduate students who have secured 70% or more marks in 12th. The amount of scholarship depends on the merit of the student.
