Gold medalist Gaurav wanted to make a career in the Armed Forces right from the beginning. For this, he crossed many obstacles. Then somewhere Gaurav got a chance to join the National Defense Academy in Khadakwasla.
Gaurav Yadav's father is a resident of Jajour-Bas village in Alwar district of Rajasthan. He had cleared the IIT entrance test. But he kept such a big thing hidden from his family and took admission in a college in Delhi. His motive behind this was to fulfill the dream of NDA.
The wall of the room is considered as SSB panel
According to the Times of India report, Gaurav had cleared the NDA entrance exam twice. But he could not join the NDA, because both times his car got stuck in the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview stage. He kept himself motivated even after not clearing SSB. This was the reason that as soon as he got the third chance, he hoisted the flag and cleared the exam and joined the NDA.
The passing day parade of NDA was organized on Wednesday. On this occasion, Gaurav said, 'I used to stand in front of the wall of my room. During this, I used to think that I am giving interview to the SSB panel and answering their questions.
When lied to brother
Gold medalist Gaurav's brother Vineet is in the Indian Army. He told that there was a time when the family started worrying about Gaurav's mental condition. Vineet told that when he asked his brother about the IIT result, he told that the exam could not be cleared.
Vineet said, 'On saying this, I believed his words. When his selection was done in NDA, then he went somewhere and told that his IIT entrance was cleared. He said, 'Today he has proved himself right by achieving this extraordinary feat. We are proud of that. This is a great start to his military career.

At the same time, after overcoming the challenges faced in clearing the NDA, he cashed in on all the opportunities ahead. Gaurav not only performed brilliantly on the academic front, but also excelled in military training. The result of this was that he was awarded the Gold Medal. On the other hand, getting permission to command the parade was icing on the cake.
Gaurav said, 'It was something that I had not thought about while joining the academy. To be honest, initially it was difficult to adjust to the training schedule of the academy. I was hesitant about military training. But I kept myself motivated.
