According to the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020, now all Teachers Training Colleges in the country will offer four-year Integrated B.Ed course. The center will start this course in pilot mode in select teachers training colleges of the country. By 2030, all BEd colleges will have to bring about structural and human resource changes to conduct this course. Its official notification has been issued. At present, the four-year Integrated BEd course is taught in only half a dozen institutes in Bihar. This course will take place in a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary environment. It will be implemented in a phased manner. Higher educational institutions will have to share the existing physical resources of their other departments. For this amendment has been made in NCTE Regulation-2014. The four-year integrated course will be of eight semesters. Students will have to do an 18-week internship. Internship will also compulsorily include field based experience and practice teaching. The course has to be completed in a maximum of six years.

Enrollment will be done through national level examination
In this four-year course, enrollment can be taken through the National Common Entrance Test through the National Testing Agency. The entrance test will be online computer based. Candidates will be able to enroll in BA B.Ed/ B.Sc. B.Ed/ B.Com B.Ed. In this way, candidates will get a chance to do graduation as well as B.Ed in four years. This will save him a year.

Training colleges will no longer be able to charge enrollment fees arbitrarily. They will not be able to take contribution from the students. One head of department and 15 assistant professors will be required for 100 students. Only Professors or Associate Professors of Education will now be able to become Heads of Departments of Training Colleges conducting new courses. Dr. Kumar Sanjeev, visiting member of NCTE and Senate member of Patna University, said that now similar students will take admission in this course who are thinking of pursuing a career as ‘School Teacher’. That is, after successfully completing this course, they will be able to become a ‘professional teacher’.

For Assistant Professors of Educational Studies, M.Ed., NET and Doctorate degree from Pedagogical subject were prescribed as the minimum qualifications. However, for the appointment of professors of school subjects, the qualification of B.Ed along with post-graduation, NET and PhD in the concerned subject has been made mandatory.

Consulting professor will also be appointed: Under the new provisions, now three part-time professors will also have to be appointed. For the first time, a provision has been made for the appointment of a Professor of Career Guidance and Counseling. In addition, one part-time professor each for arts education and health and physical education can be appointed.
