There will be no compulsion of UGC NET or PhD for their appointment. Such professors can be appointed for a period of one year to a maximum of three years.

The UGC wrote an official letter to all the Vice Chancellors of the country on 11 November. In this letter of UGC, the university was asked to include Professor of Practice. In this, those who are not teachers by initial occupation, nor have they done PhD for teaching, can also join.
Despite this, people based on their professional experience can be appointed to teach students in colleges. This professor will teach the subject to the students in which he has long professional experience.
Changes under NEP 2020
