NET or PhD is not necessary for teaching in college, know the decision of UGC

The UGC has said that professors will teach the subject to the students in which they have long professional experience. They can be experts in any field. There will be no compulsion of UGC NET or PhD for their appointment. Such professors can be appointed for a period of one year to a maximum of three years.

UGC wrote a letter

The UGC wrote an official letter to all the Vice Chancellors of the country on 11 November. In this letter of UGC, the university was asked to include Professor of Practice. In this, those who are not teachers by initial occupation, nor have they done PhD for teaching, can also join.

Despite this, people based on their professional experience can be appointed to teach students in colleges. This professor will teach the subject to the students in which he has long professional experience.

Changes under NEP 2020

UGC Chairman M Jagadish Kumar told that these changes are being made with the recommendations of the National Education Policy ie NEP 2020. In this, engineering, science, media, literature, enterprise, social science, fine arts, civil servants and military forces can be appointed as professional professors of practice.
