NEET UG: Government has given the latest details of MBBS seats in the country, see state wise seats

NEET UG Seats 2023-2024: The Central Government has said that there are 107948 MBBS seats in 704 medical colleges in the country. Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Pawar gave this information in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. He said that since 2014 there has been an increase of 82 per cent in the number of medical colleges. The number of medical colleges has increased from 387 to 704. On the other hand, MBBS seats have increased by 110 per cent since 2014. In 2014, the seats were just 51,348, which have now increased to 107,948. Out of these 56283 seats are available in government medical colleges and remaining 51665 seats are available in private medical colleges. Out of 704 medical colleges, 379 are government and 315 are private medical colleges.

He also informed that there has been an increase of 117 per cent in NEET PG seats. In 2014, where NEET PG seats were 31185, now it has increased to 67802.

Tamil Nadu has the maximum number of medical colleges at 74. It is followed by Karnataka which has 70 medical colleges. There are 68 medical colleges in UP, 21 in Bihar, 27 in MP, 67 in Maharashtra, 15 in Haryana, 35 in Rajasthan, 56 in Telangana, 35 in West Bengal, 12 in Punjab and 9 in Jharkhand.
