MBBS doctors will be allowed to do post graduation only after completing the bond.

Bonded doctors posted in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand will now be allowed to do PG after the completion of the bond period. There is a preparation to change the rules in view of the inconvenience caused to patients due to doctors leaving for studies during the bond period. The state government provides MBBS to the students at very low fees under the bond. According to the bond, these doctors are posted in hill hospitals for three years after completion of the course. Many doctors get approval for PG shortly after posting. Due to this, shortage of doctors in the hospital causes inconvenience to the patients and vacancy of posts in the middle of the session also has a negative impact on the health services.

This problem came to light at many places during the visit of Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar to various districts. Secretary Health said, changes in the rules are being considered to solve the problem.

700 doctors posted on bond in hospitals of Uttarakhand

Around 700 doctors passed out from government medical colleges of the state have been posted in hospitals under bonds. But a large number of these doctors are doing PG. Due to this, hospitals have become empty and problems are being created in the districts. In such a situation, under the bond, it is being made mandatory to work in the hospital for a period of three years or two years after deployment. On the other hand, doctors in the state get half the salary during PG.
