The High Commission of Canada, present in India, has warned students that they cannot start working in the country until the course of their chosen course officially starts. The Canada High Commission tweeted, 'Keep in mind that some study permits allow you to work in Canada. You can start working when your study program starts. Before that work is not allowed. The commission has asked its students to ensure that they can prove through documents that their university or college has allowed them to come late. Apart from this, students have been informed about the change in the date of their course.

The commission's tweet further said, 'If you are visiting Canada this winter, a Border Service officer will review your documents. Your DLI has allowed you to be late or you have received a deferral. Be ready to show the documents that prove it.

Which students will be allowed to work?

According to the Canada Immigration Guidelines, students will be allowed to work off-campus only if they have enrolled as a full-time student at a designated educational institution (DLI). Apart from this, students taking admission in post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training programs will also be allowed to work. At the same time, under the rules stated in the study visa, students studying in the secondary-level vocational training program (Quebec only) will be allowed to work off-campus.
