If school teachers and employees get married after retirement, they will get family pension.

The teachers and employees of 4512 non-government aided secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh who get married after retirement, husband or wife, as the case may be, will get family pension. Special Secretary SP Singh has written in a letter sent to the Director of Secondary Education on September 4 that this system will be implemented with immediate effect. It has also been clarified that arrears will not be allowed for earlier periods.

Narendra Kumar Srivastava, a retired assistant teacher from Girdhari Singh Inder Kunwar Inter College Lucknow, married after retirement and nominated his wife for family pension. The Director of Secondary Education had sought guidance by sending reports in this regard on 19 July 2021, 21 October 2021 and 23 March 2022. In this matter, State President of Secondary Teachers Association and former MLC Suresh Kumar Tripathi had also sought information in the Legislative Council.

The Special Secretary has written that in the Government Order dated June 25, 1991, the provision of giving family pension to the marriages of government servants after their retirement has been laid down. Similarly, this facility will also be allowed for teachers of aided colleges. The Finance Department has also given consent for this on 28th August.
