These girls used to sit on dharna with posters in their hands from 10 am to 5 pm every day leaving the class. He also submitted a memorandum to the Education Department. About 17-18 years old, these girl students kept their words openly even in front of Telangana Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy. Until the government took any action.
Finally, after about 20 days, the Telangana government gave a new hostel building to the college. This building with 76 rooms will now be the Girls Hostel of Nizam College. About 400 girls can live in it.
Till now Nizam College, affiliated to Osmania State University, had a hostel of 98 rooms for boys taking admission in Bachelor's degree course. A hostel of 90 rooms was meant for PG boys. Hostel was allotted for the girls taking admission in PG this year also.
According to the report of Indian Express, a student involved in the Protest said, 'We come from rural areas of Telangana. We have to live here in private hostels by paying 6000 rupees every month. When we took admission here, the college administration said that a new girls hostel is being built, soon it will be allotted to us. On November 4 last, we saw that worship is being done in the new hostel, but the rooms are being given only to the girls of the Master's course. Then we decided to stand up for ourselves.
According to the Principal of Nizam College, the hostel fee in the campus is Rs 10,000 per annum for General and OBC category and Rs 7000 per annum for SC, ST. 4 students can stay in one room. But the girls have decided to live by adjusting in large numbers.
