Dream of studying in IIT fulfilled even after low marks in JEE, 87 students got admission

JEE exam is conducted for admission in top engineering colleges of the country. Lakhs of youth across the country appear in this examination after 12th. But very few students get admission in top IITs. At the same time, 87 students got low marks in JEE despite IIT Madras I have got a chance to study. These students have been admitted to the BS program of the institute under the ‘Anaivarukkum IITM initiative.

Of the 87 students, 30 are from government schools in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram and 51 are from model schools in other districts. Admission even after low rank in JEE

A student named Lavanya cleared the JEE Advanced exam this year, but her rank was not high enough to get admission in IIT-Madras. While she will try to join IIT Madras again next year as a direct student, she was admitted to Bachelor of Science (BS) in Data Science and Applications on Saturday after clearing the qualifying examination.

BS is a four-year long course, it offers students multiple entry and exit options, although depending on the number of years they spend, they can earn a certificate, diploma or degree. Launched in 2021, the course is also mostly online and allows students to pursue another course concurrently.

Where IIT Madras shortlisted and supported a select group of 192 students from 58 government and corporation schools in and around Chennai. Based on the progressive learning results demonstrated during 14-week individual training at IIT Madras, 68 students were selected to write the All India Aptitude Test for admission to the BS degree.
