Delhi School Reopening News: Delhi’s schools and colleges will reopen from Monday, November 29. The Arvind Kejriwal government’s announcement comes hours after the Supreme Court made yet again scathing remarks on the city’s pollution. However, the court also said, “If the situation improves, then lift some restrictions.” Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai told reporters this afternoon, “The air quality in Delhi is improving now. Schools, Colleges and educational institutions will reopen from Monday.”

Gopal Rai has said that from November 27 to December 3, only CNG and electric vehicles engaged in non-essential services will be allowed to enter, while the ban on trucks running on petrol and diesel will continue. Apart from this, all the offices of the Delhi government will open from November 29.

Earlier, the Delhi government had lifted the ban on construction and demolition (C&D) activities across the capital, citing improvement in air quality. Gopal Rai, however, said on Wednesday that construction activities would be temporarily halted if any violations are found at the sites.

The overall air quality index (AIQ) of Delhi stood at 280 on Wednesday. According to SAFAR, the PM10 level was recorded at 58 in the ‘satisfactory’ category and the PM 2.5 level at 38 in the ‘satisfactory’ category. According to the SAFAR bulletin, the local surface winds are likely to increase from November 27 which will result in an improvement in the air quality.
