Delhi: Retired principal and vice-principal of government schools will be made in-charge of NIOS, Delhi government will start recruitment soon

Retired Principals Vice Principals as NIOS In-Charge: The Education Department of Delhi will recruit retired principal and vice-principal of government schools as in-charge of the study center of the National School of Open Learning (NIOS). State government officials have given this information. According to officials, the Delhi government (Delhi GovernmentTeachers retiring from the post of Principal and Vice-Principal from schools of Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will be eligible for appointment on contract basis.

A senior official of the Directorate of Education said, “The coordinators appointed on contract basis for the nodal center will be responsible for all the work of the NIOS project, including ensuring the safety of the study center and maintaining discipline.” He said that it would also be his responsibility to make a centralized timetable for conducting classes. Along with this, their responsibility will also be to ensure quality education, distribute study material, keep in touch with parents and counsel them.

Extension of service will be available as per the need

The official said the coordinators would have to work an hour more than the regular normal working hours for heads of government schools and their appointment would be till April 2023. According to the official, they can be given extension according to their satisfactory performance and need. He said that the coordinators engaged in this work will have to achieve the benchmark of at least 70 percent pass percentage in the NIOS exam. Actually, it is generally seen that the result of NIOS is not much better than other boards of the country.

The Directorate of Education official said that these coordinators will not have any financial rights. He said that only those candidates who are free from vigilance point of view would be considered for appointment. They will also be given leave of up to eight days in a calendar year of one year. It is believed that the Delhi government is going to appoint these people for the purpose of improving the result of NIOS.
