Constitution Day 2021: Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November across the country. The Constitution was prepared on this day in the year 1949. This constitution was implemented on 26 January 1950. Whenever the name of the constitution comes, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is definitely remembered, he is called the architect of the constitution.

After India became an independent nation, the Constituent Assembly assigned the task of drafting the Constitution to a committee headed by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. It took 2 years 11 months and 17 days to prepare the final draft of the constitution.

In early 1948, Dr. Ambedkar drafted the Indian Constitution and presented it in the Constituent Assembly. The draft was adopted on 26 November 1949 with very few modifications. The Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950.

Before India got independence, elections were held for the Constituent Assembly of India in the year 1946, July. Few people know that the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly was held on 9 December 1946. After which the country was divided into two parts – India and Pakistan. With this, the Constituent Assembly was also divided into two parts. Which later became the Constituent Assembly of India and the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan.

Let us tell you, there were 299 members in the assembly that wrote the Indian Constitution. The first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the President of the Constituent Assembly. The Constituent Assembly completed its work on 26 November 1949 and this constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. Since then, Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January in the country.
