Cleared UPSC exam twice in a row, engineer turned IAS officer

UPSC IAS Success Story: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) is considered to be one of the toughest examinations in the country. Every year, thousands of candidates appear for this examination, and out of them only a few thousand candidates make it to the final list. Today we are talking about Akshat Verma. Who passed UPSC CSE not once but twice and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Akshat Verma was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and was brought up there. Akshat also completed his schooling from Army Public School. While studying in class 12th, he prepared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) exam and also passed this exam. He then completed his engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Let us tell you, Akshat has been a promising student since the beginning.

He also had the opportunity to visit China’s famous Beijing Jiaotong University. After completing engineering, he became an engineer in the Ministry of Road Transport. During his job, he realized that he wanted to appear for UPSC exam. After which he started preparing for UPSC CSE.

Akshat did not resign from his job and started preparing for the Civil Services Examination along with the job. During his initial UPSC attempt, he cracked the exam and was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 2015 by securing 667th rank. After this he worked as Assistant Commissioner in the Income Tax Department.

Even after passing the UPSC exam and getting this post, Akshat was not completely satisfied. He had given the UPSC exam to become an IAS officer, but due to his low rank, he did not get the IAS post. He knew that he still had more chances to take the UPSC exam, after which he decided to take the exam again.

In the year 2016, he once again appeared for UPSC CSE and passed it with better rank. Akshat became a 2017 batch IAS officer and took charge as Assistant Magistrate in Shahjahanpur district on April 27, 2018.

Let us tell you, he was posted as Assistant Magistrate of Shahjahanpur in 2019. In the year 2019, he was appointed as Combined Magistrate in Unnao. After this, in the year 2021, he was appointed to the post of Chief Development Officer in Sitapur. Now he has been transferred to the post of Municipal Commissioner in Varanasi.
