The STF has arrested four people of the gang who extorted lakhs of rupees from the unemployed on the pretext of getting them jobs in the army. Army jawan Rambaran Singh alias Rahul and ex-serviceman Amit Kumar Singh, posted in Nagaland, were among those arrested. One of his companions used to call himself a commando of the army. Amit used to meet youths in the uniform of lieutenant colonel. Amit was in uniform at the time of arrest. Lieutenant Colonel’s uniform, army seal, many educational documents have been recovered from them. About a dozen people related to this gang are being searched.
According to STF in-charge SSP Vishal Vikram Singh, among those arrested are former soldier Amit Kumar Karenda of Ghazipur, Shubham Patel alias Kunal Singh of Bangarmau of Unnao, present soldier Rambaran Singh of Firozabad’s Bhatsana, Sikera and Dinesh Kumar Yadav of Etawah’s Jaswantnagar. All of them stayed at Govardhan Enclave near PGI. According to ASP Amit Nagar, Shubham Patel told that eight to 10 lakh rupees were taken from each youth in the name of getting them recruited in the army. Along with this, their original educational documents were also kept. Dilip used to send unemployed youths. He was given commission instead.
Used to take interview in lieutenant colonel’s uniform
STF told that Shubham used to introduce himself to the youths as an army commando. Amit Singh used to interview these youths wearing the uniform of lieutenant colonel. Rambaran Yadav used to meet the youth by posing as Major and Deputy Commandant. Shubham told that the money was distributed among themselves. Everything was decided in advance as to whom to give how much share. To whom the commission has to be paid in return.
Amit was in military uniform when raided
ASP Amit Nagar told that Amit was in the uniform of an army officer in Govardhan Enclave. These people were going to conduct fake recruitment process and medical of youths. Accused Dinesh told that Dilip is his maternal uncle. He made Shubham and Rambaran meet. These people used to give him a commission of Rs 20,000 per youth. Dilip and Ram Baran used to make fake army documents.
Rambaran was admitted to the army in 2015
According to SSP Vishal Vikram Singh, Rambaran had joined the army in the year 2015. At this time he was posted as a constable in Nagaland. He has come on 45 days leave. Rambaran told that friend Dilip Yadav had arranged a meeting with these people in Agra. Shubham had said at that time that those people used to cheat in the name of getting jobs in SSC-GD, Police, Railways and Army. Being in the army, he could easily get the format for fake documents.
Amit served in the army for 16 years.
Amit confessed that he had served in the army for 16 years. He retired in the year 2021, November. After this he met Ram Prakash. He only got involved in this forgery. Initially, he got these people to get money from some acquaintances. But, when no one was appointed and the money was not returned, he protested. On this, Ram Prakash made him meet Shubham Patel. He joined the gang with him.
