20,000 Indian students will get training in France, visa will be given for studies

France intends to host and train half a million international students by 2025. Jean Noel Barrot, Minister of Digital and Telecommunications of France, on Friday spoke at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) made this remark during his visit. The French minister said, according to President Emmanuel Macron, there are already four lakh international students in France, of which the number of Indian students will be around 20,000. All of them will be given visa for studies.

The French minister also talked about the importance of technological innovation in Indo-French relations and the technological opportunities in France for Indian students, researchers and companies. He said that France has made international partnership its priority. This can also be seen in international co-publications. More than 60 percent of scientific publications in France are produced in collaboration with a foreign research organization. These institutions are given financial assistance from France.

Rot said, France opens its system of higher education and research to the brightest scientists and intellectuals from around the world, so that by 2025 we can reach our objective of hosting and training 500,000 international students. There are 70,000 PhD students in France, out of which 40 per cent are international students. The IIIT-Delhi event ended with an interaction with the students by the French Minister. IIIT-Delhi has partnered with Nice University in the field of health.

How many Indians in France?

There are 65,000 NRIs in France. However, French language is taught in French colleges and institutes. Because of this, Indian students do not like to choose France for higher education. Students have to master the French language before taking admission here. Before taking admission in France, students also have to give a test of French language. Before admission, students have to appear in TCF and TEF exam either in India or France.

The thing to note here is that the students taking admission in International Degree Programs Bachelor, Master and PhD programs are not required to give French language test. This is because most of these courses are taught in English. However, they have to give TOEFL or IELTS exam.
