Chhattisgarh: Naxalites kill police informer, also set road construction vehicles on fire

A 45-year-old police informer was allegedly killed by Naxals earlier in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Bijapur district. On the other hand, three vehicles engaged in road construction work were set on fire. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Pankaj Shukla said that the Maoists killed a Gopaniya Sainik (secret police informer) on Friday and dumped the body on Ganglur Road under Bijapur police station area.

Police have identified the body as that of Ando Ram, a secret police informer. There further investigation is still on. In another incident, Maoists torched three vehicles engaged in road construction work in Cherkanti Patelpara village of Bijapur police station area, a police officer said.

He said the militants torched a truck, a JCB machine and another heavy vehicle, which was being used for construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The rising terror in Chhattisgarh has put a dent in the police. The police investigating the matter said that they will get to the bottom of the matter and get the accused punished.
