The Government e-Market (GeM) portal was launched on 9 August 2016 for online procurement of goods and services by all Ministries and Departments of the Central Government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the GeM portal is going to be a ‘game changer’ for the country in terms of entrepreneurship and transparency. Modi has called it very good news in a tweet.
