Rooh-Afza, a sherbet-making company since the year 1907, is in a lot of discussion these days. This discussion is related to its name —The name is similar to Dil Afza. The matter between these two had also reached the Supreme Court, regarding which the court, while giving its verdict, has stopped Dil Afza from making sherbet.
About 117 years old Rooh-Afza Sharbat manufacturing company supplies its Sharbat business to most of the places in the country. It is also supplied abroad. Although in 2020, a similar name of the same laboratories company started the business of Dil Afza Sharbat, but Rooh Afza Company had lodged an objection on this.
Laboratories Company’s claim stamped
In the year 2020, the Laboratories Company had said that it has been making medicine named Dil Afza since 1976, due to which it has started making syrup with the same name and it cannot be stopped from making it. After this, the Delhi High Court had given permission to make and sell it. After this Hamdard National Foundation appealed against it in Delhi High Court Division Bench.

Supreme Court also banned
Laboratories had reached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Division Bench of the High Court. On this today, the Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala’s bench has given its verdict and has upheld the decision of the High Court Division. The Supreme Court said that this is a violation of the rules related to the trademark.
