PFRDA Pension Proposal: Helpdesk for NPS and Atal Pension Yojana, PFRDA invites bids

The pension regulator has made new preparations to popularize the new pension schemes. Under this, pension regulator PFRDA is preparing to start a helpline, for which bids have been invited from various parties.

These works will be done from the helpdesk

PFRDA plans that NPS and Information help desks should be created for APY. These helpdesks will help people on new pension schemes like National Pension System and Atal Pension Yojana. This will help the existing subscribers of NPS and APY. Along with this, the confusion in the minds of potential subscribers about the new pension schemes will also be removed.

The debate on NPS vs OPS intensified

Right now the old pension scheme i.e. OPS is being used in the country. A new debate is going on regarding this. Many states have again decided to reinstate the old pension scheme. The demand for OPS from central employees has also increased. However, the government wants to popularize the National Pension System i.e. NPS and Atal Pension Yojana. For this, the benefits of new pension schemes are also being expanded.

Aim to add 13 lakh new subscribers

PFRDA believes that starting a helpline can help in this. . PFRDA had set a target of adding 13 lakh corporate and individual subscribers under NPS in the financial year 2023-24. However, till now a little more than 5 lakh subscribers have been added. The helpline is expected to help PFRDA in this matter also.

These companies can bid

PFRDA does not plan to set up separate infrastructure for the proposed helpline. For this, the regulator has invited bids from call center operators. Any company registered in India can bid for this. Bids made by consortium i.e. more than one company together will not be considered. The bidding company should have at least 5 years of experience in business process outsourcing, call center, contact center or ITES related services. It is also mandatory for the bidding companies to have experience of working for at least two financial institutions and one government organization in the last 3 years.
