Market slipped due to profit booking in banking and mid cap stocks, Sensex-Nifty closed with decline.

Stock Market Closing On 4 October 2023: For the second consecutive trading session this week, the Indian stock market has closed with a decline due to poor global signals and selling by foreign investors. In today’s trade, there has been a big decline in banking sector stocks and mid cap stocks due to which this decline has occurred in the market. After the market closed, BSE Sensex fell by 286 points at 65,226 and National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed by 93 points at 19,536 points. 

State of the sector 

Due to the fall in banking stocks in today’s trading, Bank Nifty fell by 435 points and closed at 43,964 points. Apart from this, stocks of auto, pharma, metals, energy, infra, healthcare and consumer durables sectors also closed with decline. Only IT and FMCG shares closed with gains. Profit booking was also seen in mid cap and small cap stocks. Mid cap index fell 1.38 percent and closed at 40047 while small cap fell 160 points and closed at 12,656 points.
