Hurun India Philanthropy List 2023: Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of the country’s leading IT company HCL Technologies, has emerged as the biggest philanthropist. During the financial year 2023-23, Shiv Nadar has donated Rs 2042 crore, which is 76 percent more than the previous financial year.
According to the report of Business Standard, according to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2023, Shiv Nadar has become the most philanthropist of the country by donating Rs 2042 crore. He has donated an average of Rs 5.6 crore every day during the 2022-23 financial year. After Shiv Nadar, Wipro’s Azim Premji is at second place. He has donated a total of Rs 1774 crore in 2022-23. Which is 267 percent more than the financial year 2021-22.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani is at third place in terms of donations. He has donated Rs 376 crore through Reliance Foundation. Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha has become the youngest donor. He is at 12th position and has donated Rs 112 crore. Rohini Nilekani ranks first among women donors and has donated Rs 170 crore. According to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2023, he is ranked 10th.
If we look at the names of other charitable women apart from Rohini Nilekani, Anu Aga and Leena Gandhi have donated Rs 23 crore and both are at 40th and 41st position. Out of total donors, 7 are women.
119 industrialists have donated Rs 5 crore or more in the financial year 2022-23. And if we add the donations of all these then this amount becomes Rs 8445 crore. This amount is 59 percent more than that of 2021-22. In 2022-23, 14 Indians have donated more than Rs 100 crore, which was only 6 in the previous year. While 12 people have donated Rs 50 crore. 47 have donated Rs 20 crore.
