Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has saved Rs 2 lakh crore from going into “wrong hands” through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in the last eight years using modern technology.

Addressing a conference organized on the topic of India’s economic potential in the global scenario of the 21st century in Bhopal, Sitharaman said that the BJP and the Modi government have encouraged startups in the country by formulating a startup policy. We are building a technology driven India for the next 25 years. In the last seven-eight years, the government has saved more than two lakh crores by using technology. The money that goes through DBT is Aadhaar verification.

Even the dead were reaping the benefits

Taking a jibe at the Congress, he alleged that even those who died during the time of the Congress, those who were not born, used to get money. Sitharaman said that today it is my good fortune to participate in the lecture series in the memory of Rashtrarishi Dattopant Thengadi. Thengadi will always be remembered for building various institutions in India and for the welfare of various sections. He said that the work done by them even during the difficult times of the British rule is commendable. He fought for the Indian Labor Union. The welfare of the country is only due to the welfare of the workers. The organization for the advocates is also his gift.

Self-confidence is necessary for self-reliant India

Sitharaman said that to make a self-reliant India, first self-confidence is needed, its feeling comes from the inspiration of Rashtrarishi Thengadi. Thengadi has done unprecedented work for economic reform. Sitharaman said that startups are growing rapidly in India in the field of self-employment. The startup revolution belongs to the youth of India. Recalling Thengadi’s ideology, he said that he was in favor of self-employment and not in favor of encouraging salaried employment.

Entrepreneurship in India’s DNA

Entrepreneurship is in the DNA of India. He said that during the Congress regime, there was a central plan and the same model was implemented in all the states across the country. Only China is left in the world in the name of communism but it is also building its economy with the help of capitalists. On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that India is an ancient, wonderful and great nation. Bharat has given the light of knowledge to the world. India’s place has been at the forefront of civilization and culture.

India is again on the path of Vishwa Guru

Today, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, India’s contribution to the global economy has reached 9.5 percent as compared to earlier governments. Madhya Pradesh’s efforts towards fulfilling the target set by Modi to take the country’s economy to $5 trillion by 2025 are commendable. India is once again marching on the path of Vishwa Guru. The world is seeing the potential of India. India is sending food grains to many countries of the world.
