Bank Holidays in September 2023: Banks will have holiday every other day next month, just a few days’ time to avoid trouble

The threat of the festive season has started to be felt in the country. During the coming months, many big festivals are going to come one after the other, which will start from this month itself. This will affect the functioning of the banks. According to the Reserve Bank, banks are going to remain closed for 16 days next month in different parts of the country. This means that every other day there will be a bank holiday somewhere.

This is how holidays are decided

Bank holidays are decided in two ways. Banks remain closed all over the country on the occasion of national holidays. Similarly, on every Sunday and on second and fourth Saturdays, banks remain closed all over the country. Apart from these, according to the regional festivals, banks remain closed on different days at different places. List of holidays in September:

3 September 2023: Sunday. Banks will remain closed across the country.
6 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad and Patna on account of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
7 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Telangana, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla and Srinagar on account of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.< /span>
9 September 2023: Second Saturday will be a bank holiday across the country.
10 September 2023: Sunday will also be a bank holiday across the country.
17 September 2023: Sunday. Banks will remain closed across the country.
18 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Bengaluru and Telangana on account of Vinayaka Chaturthi.
19 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur and Panaji on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
20 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Kochi and Bhubaneswar on account of Ganesh Chaturthi and Nuakhai.
22 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Kochi, Panaji and Thiruvananthapuram on account of Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day.
23 September 2023: Banks will have a holiday across the country on the fourth Saturday.
24 September 2023: Sunday. There will be a holiday across the country.
25 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Guwahati on the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardeva.
27 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram on account of Milad-e-Sharif.
28 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai and New Delhi due to Eid-e-Milad.
29 September 2023: Banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Jammu and Srinagar on account of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.
