Veteran industrialist Anand Mahindra has offered Asian Games medal winner Ram Babu to choose a tractor and pickup of his choice. Ram Babu had won the bronze medal from India in the 35 kilometer walking race of the Asian Games.
Ram Babu’s international competition was not easy. After winning the medal in the Asian Games, Anand Mahindra has asked for contract numbers from people to help his family. Anand Mahindra has earlier gifted an electric car to the parents of chess player R Praganandan.
Ram Babu is from Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by his wife and three sisters. The family income ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500. He has done many jobs to meet the family expenses. Apart from working in MNREGA, Ram Babu also worked as a waiter. To complete his sports training, he also worked as a waiter. During the pandemic, he also worked in MNREGA and today his passion for sports has brought him to this position.

According to PTI, 24-year-old Ram Babu said that he has done every possible thing. From working as a waiter in Varanasi to digging pits with his father in MNREGA. He told News18 in a separate interview "Working as a waiter was frustrating, people don’t respect you."

Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra praised his courage and determination and offered him a vehicle. Mahindra wrote that I want to gift one of my company’s tractors or pickups to his family.
Have taken part in this competition
Ram Babu competed in the 50 km event at the National Race Walk Championships in February 2020, just before the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, and finished fourth.
