In this scam, vicious fraudsters were misusing the popular brand of Reliance. Claiming to work for AJIO, they were getting people to deposit Rs 5000 to Rs 10 lakh. In return, people were being promised that after depositing the money, they would get scratch coupons, cards, prize money etc. They were collecting money from people in the name of AJIO and AJIO Online Shopping Private Limited.
Suspected of being a fraud from Kolkata
When Reliance Industries got wind of this scam, it Filed a complaint regarding misuse of AJIO trademark and logo. Six people and entities have been made accused in the complaint. It is being said that the people committing fraud are Kolkata based. The fraudsters cleverly used mobile numbers and bank accounts in the scam and defrauded people.
These immediate measures were taken
Delhi High Court has banned fraudulent activities in this case. To close it, an order has been given to immediately freeze the suspicious bank account. Also, the court has asked to give the statement from the date of opening of the account till now. Apart from this, the court has asked to present all the available documents and evidence including KYC. Telecom companies have also been asked to immediately block the concerned mobile number.
