The new Verna will get a wide-grill look that will merge with the headlamps, and could also get a split headlamp design. It looks like it gets a fastback-like styling with a slim roof similar to the new Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Vertus Twin. At the rear, the tail-lamps are expected to be angular and will be similar to the new Elantra. The new generation Verna is also expected to be slightly bigger than the old model.

On the inside, expect an all-new dashboard design and more cabin room. As far as features are concerned, the Verna will get the usual bits like a sunroof, LED headlamps and cooled seats. Mid-hybrid powertrain details of the new Hyundai Verna

The new Verna will continue to use both the 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. Both the engines are likely to feature mild-hybrid technology with automatic start/stop and brake-energy regeneration features. Another improved fuel efficiency of mild-hybrid technology will be a slight improvement (about 2 to 5 percent more than the current car). This will help the Verna to better compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the recently launched Honda City Hybrid with its higher fuel efficiency.

The gearbox options are expected to be similar as both the engines get both manual and automatic options. More options of smaller capacity turbocharged petrol engines could be added to the line-up.

When will the new Hyundai Verna arrive in India?

The all-new Hyundai Verna could debut globally sometime this year. Keeping this in mind, we may see the new sedan launch in India in 2023, with the Auto Expo 2023 expected to be revealed in January next year. The new Verna will take on other mid-size sedans like the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Volkswagen Vertus that will be launched next month.
