Tirumala: Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam will be held on Tuesday, September 20 in honor of the Salakatla Brahmotsavams from September 27 to October 5 at the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. It is customary to conduct Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam four times in a year. A temple purification program is conducted on the Tuesday before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadashi festivals.
On September 20, from 6 am to 11 am, the priests will perform the temple purification program. Starting from Anandanilayam in the temple to Bangaruwakili, the sub-temples, temple premises, walls, roof, puja paraphernalia etc. inside the Srivari temple are washed clean with water. During this time Swami's moolavirattu is completely covered with cloth. After purification, holy perfumed water mixed with namakopu, srichurnam, musk turmeric, pachaku, gadda camphor, sandalwood powder, saffron, kichiligadda and other spices are spread throughout the temple. After that, the cloth covering the Swami's Moolavirattu is removed and special puja and offerings are performed by the priests in a scientific way. After that the devotees are allowed to see Sarvadarshan. Due to this, the TTD has canceled the Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana Seva organized on Tuesday.
