KVP Letter To Jagan : Former MP KVP Ramachandra Rao has written a letter to CM Jagan saying that if the pressure from the center to reduce the height in the case of Polavaram is removed, it will be a betrayal of the state. It is unfortunate that the construction of the Polavaram project has stopped. KVP CM Jagan brought to the notice that the Center is planning to reduce the height of Polavaram due to lack of funds. The entire construction of the project is in the hands of the state. He said that he should not bow down to the pressure of the Centre.. If the height decreases.. AP will suffer a lot. KVP said that the construction should be undertaken without reducing the height of Polavaram.
He reminded that the Central Water Board had once said that if the Polavaram full reservoir level is less than 150 feet, it is impossible to get the expected benefits from the Polavaram project. He said that the state government is not in a position to spend funds for land acquisition, rehabilitation and reconstruction works, and 30,000 crores are required for relief and rehabilitation programs in the contour between the Polavaram reservoir level between 140 feet and 150 feet. To reduce this cost, the central government is pressuring the state to reduce the height of the Polavaram project to 140 feet. He said that if the Polavaram Reservoir is not built to a height of 150 feet as allowed by the Bachawat Tribunal, the construction of Polavaram will remain just an eye-opener. He warned that if the height is reduced, the water will not be retained as a reservoir and the 20 thousand crores of public money already spent on this project will also be wasted. He alleged that due to the motherly love shown by the central government and due to non-allocation of funds, the work of the project to bring more than 300 tms of water wasted into the sea is running at a crawl. KVP reminded that the Partition Act said that the project should be built by the Center as a project of the highest public priority and completed by 2018.
He wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi on Monday on the issue of Polavaram. Why is the state government being pressured to limit the construction of Polavaram irrigation project to 140 meters instead of 150 meters contour?’’ that KVP Ramachandra Rao denounced the Prime Minister in a letter. ‘‘If the contour is limited to 140 meters, the cost of relief rehabilitation will be reduced by Rs.30,000 crore. Will the huge project be scaled down to the level of a reservoir on that pretext? Why has the construction of the Polavaram project, which should have been completed by the Centre, been handed over to the state? Why did you neglect this project which was supposed to be completed by 2018? Diaphragm Wall Why not disclose the technical reasons for the damage? In the interest of national interest, water should be stored in 150 meter contour in Polavaram project. In the letter, KVP demanded did KVP wrote a letter to CM Jagan on the same day as the Prime Minister’s letter
