APSRTC has decided to run non-AC sleeper buses for inter-distance services in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Passengers are asked to name them attractively and appropriately. To this extent, the RTC officials have finalized the name ‘Star Liner’ for the non-AC sleeper bus. Named couples were felicitated with a cash award. In a recent announcement, APSRTC has asked to suggest a good brand name for the non-AC sleeper bus. The announcement received a good response. Sumathi and Reddappa from Chittoor district won the prize by suggesting the name ‘Star Liner’. RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao congratulated the named couple. The winner was given a cash award of Rs.10 thousand and a certificate of appreciation. These non-AC sleeper buses have 30 berths in each bus, each berth has a fan and a reading lamp. It is mentioned that if a good name is mentioned to show their brand service, they will give a cash prize. In this order, the name of Star Liner has been finalized.
On the other hand, the RTC has made special arrangements for those who have gone to other villages from different areas to come back to their hometowns. It was decided to run special buses for everyone to come home for the festival. It has been announced that special buses will run from 29th of this month to 10th of next month. It has been decided to run a total of 1,081 additional buses from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai as well as from various parts of the state. The RTC officials have made it clear that normal fares will be charged in these special buses instead of the 50 per cent extra fare as in the past.
