According to the Meteorological Department, the prevailing air system over the Bay of Bengal weakened and moved west-northwestward on Tuesday. The IMD said that it is continuing near the coast of Southwest Bay of Bengal, Dakshina Andhra and North Tamil Nadu. From there, it is likely to move west-northwest and weaken further in the next 24 hours. The surface circulation associated with this low pressure extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. As a result of this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains in some places of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema in the next two days, the Meteorological Department said. Also, heavy rains are falling on the coast of Dakshina Andhra and North Tamil Nadu with low pressure.
On the other hand, heavy rains are falling in Chennai and Nellore districts under the influence of low pressure. 8 districts of Tamil Nadu are suffering due to torrential rains. Coastal districts including Nellore...Chennai are experiencing waves. The coastline is shaking with the strong winds. Many areas in Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts were flooded. Heavy rain is also lashing the city of Chennai. Heavy rains are falling all over the joint Nellore district. The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rains will occur in many districts of AP for the next 48 hours under the influence of low pressure.
