The youth celebrated Vinayaka Chavithi with grandeur. They wanted to bid a grand farewell to their favorite deity by worshiping Navratri. They went in a procession and immersed themselves. The next seven went home wanting to celebrate the festival more grandly. Once again they looked back at the sea. They saw the submerged idol floating out. They immediately go into the sea and push the idol back. At the same time, a fast wave swept them inside along with the statue. One of them has died and the whereabouts of the other two is yet to be known. The youths of Nagulapalli village of U.Kottapalli mandal in Kakinada district went to immerse the idol of Vinayaka. Immersion was done at the harbor near Uppada as a procession. But the idol was thrown back by the waves. Seeing this, Satish, Vijay Vardhan and Venkata Reddy along with three other youths went into the sea. While trying to push the statue inside, the waves swelled. Unable to withstand the waves, the idol was washed inside.
Those who were there screamed in fear. Fishermen nearby heard their screams and got alerted. They went on a boat to search for those who were washed away in the sea. Four of the six youths were rescued and brought ashore. Among them, Venkata Reddy was taken to Pithapuram Government Hospital as his condition was serious. He died while undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors. Search operations have been carried out for the whereabouts of Satish and Vijaya Vardhan. On receiving the information, the police and firemen are circling the sea with the help of boats and boats.
