Andhra Pradesh: In recent times, the state government has given special attention to the prevention of accidents due to safety failures in industries. Henceforth, it has decided to conduct a special drive to check the non-compliance of safety standards in the industries. A meeting of the State Monitoring Committee on Industry-Safety Standards was held at the Amaravati Secretariat. State Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Gummanur Jayaram and Gudivada Amarnath participated in this meeting. The Ministers reviewed the safety standards in the industries with the officials of various departments. Spoke to Collectors of different districts in video conference. The Ministers directed to completely curb the accidents due to safety failures in the industries. Also, it has been suggested to conduct a special drive in three months to check the complete safety standards in all industries in the state. The accident at LG Polymers in Visakhapatnam should be taken as a warning. He ordered strict implementation of safety regulations to prevent any accidents from happening in the future. The ministers suggested that the officials of Industries, Pollution Control Board and Labor Department should jointly conduct inspections every six months. The district committees formed as the chairman of the collectors should do these inspections themselves.
It has been revealed that a large number of new industries will come up in the state. The Ministers ordered to take care not to have settlements near the red category industries and if urbanization increases around the existing industries, priority should be given to the safety of people and alternative routes should be examined. It is advised to keep a special vigil on the industries that are harmful to the people and find alternative ways without the people around the industries. He said that accidents cannot happen in industries due to safety failures in the future. Ministers said that CM Jaganmohan Reddy has taken this matter seriously. The Ministers directed the officials to take action against the industries that do not comply with the regulations.
