Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel The government of the state has taken a big decision to encourage the farmers doing lac cultivation in the state and increase their income. Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association has made necessary arrangements for the supply and sale of Behan Lakh. Along with this, arrangements have also been made to give loans for the cultivation of lakh crops. The special thing is that no interest will be charged from the farmers for this.
To overcome the shortage of Beehan Lac in the state, the purchase rate has been fixed to purchase Beehan Lac available with the farmers at a reasonable price. Under this, the purchase rate payable to farmers for Kusumi Behan Lakh (obtained from plum tree) is Rs 550 per kg and for Rangini Beehan Lakh (obtained from Palash tree) the purchase rate payable to farmers is Rs 275 per kg. Similarly, the selling rate has also been fixed to make available lakhs of rupees to the farmers. Under this, the sale rate payable to farmers for Kusumi Beehan Lakh (obtained from plum tree) is Rs 640 per kg and for Rangini Beehan Lakh (obtained from Palash tree) the selling rate payable to farmers is Rs 375 per kg.
On-form training is also being given in lac production cluster.
In order to encourage farmers towards lac cultivation, arrangements have also been made to give free loans through the District Co-operative Bank. Under this, a loan limit of Rs. 5 thousand per tree has been fixed on safflower, Rs. 900 on berry and Rs. 500 on Palash for rearing lac. A training center has been opened in Kanker by the State Minor Forest Produce Association to do lac rearing in a scientific way. In this center, along with 03 days institutional training, on-form training is also being given in lac production cluster.
The deadline has been set till December 15.
For the successful implementation of the scheme and increase in lac production in the state, lac production clusters have also been formed in 20 district unions connecting 03 to 05 primary committee areas. Under this, information is being taken about the demand of farmer wise Beehan Lakh by conducting survey in each lakh production cluster. In this, the farmers will have to deposit the total amount in advance in the district union account to supply Beehan lakh at the price fixed by the union. Under this, the deadline for depositing the amount according to the demand received from the farmers for Rangi Behan Lakh is fixed till November 15. Farmers are moving towards lac farming
It is worth mentioning that traditionally lac is cultivated in different districts of the state and about 50 thousand farmers follow Kusumi lac on safflower and ber trees, colorful lac on palash and ber trees. At present, 4 thousand tonnes of lac is produced in the state, the estimated value of which is Rs 100 crore. While increasing the lac production to 10 thousand tonnes in the state, the target is to give an income of Rs.250 crores to the farmers. For this, an important decision has been taken to provide lakhs of crop loans with free interest to the farmers who follow lakhs. Due to the decline in lac production across the country, at present the market rate of Kusumi lac has increased from Rs.300 to Rs.900 per kg. Due to this, the trend of farmers towards lac farming is increasing.
