But now this garden has to be cut during the harvesting season itself. Because papaya got infected with fungal virus and where he was expecting an income of twenty lakh rupees, now he is not going to get even a single rupee.
At the same time, the spread of this fungal virus is increasing rapidly in Shirur taluka and fruits have started falling in the 2-acre papaya orchard of farmer Rameshwar Bhonsle. effect of unseasonal rain
The farmers were expected to get good profits from papaya. But due to return rains, the papaya orchards were destroyed, and the excess water rotted the trunks of the trees, resulting in diseased papayas and rotting of the fruits. This has resulted in a fungus-like virus and it is this virus that is now ravaging papaya plantations.
The outbreak of this virus has increased in the areas where gardens have been cut during the monsoon season. Many farmers took measures for this but to no avail. Apart from this, the orchards of pomegranate and mosambi have also been badly affected by the return rains. Now once again the farmers are pleading for help from the government.
