Price of 3650 quintal basmati rice in UP mandis

Kharif season is at peak. During this, 1509 varieties of Pusa Basmati paddy have started coming ready for sale in the mandis. According to the Agri Market Portal, at present, the price of this variety of Basmati paddy has been recorded at Rs 3,650 per quintal in Aligarh Mandi. Whereas last year the price of this variety of basmati paddy in the same market was Rs 2320 per quintal. On the other hand, Pusa Basmati 1509 variety is selling at Rs 3,340 per quintal in the mandis of Kurukshetra district of Haryana, which is more than Rs 2,710 a year ago.

Impact of strictness on rice exports

The main reason behind the rise in the prices of Basmati paddy is strictness on rice exports. In fact, in the past, the central government had imposed a duty of 20 percent on the export of non-basmati rice. At the same time, the export of broken rice has been completely banned. Due to this, the prices of Basmati rice have also increased internationally.

According to APEDA data, the average value of Basmati exports in July was $1,078 per tonne. At the same time, exporters are doing deals at the rate of $ 1,250-1,350 per tonne. However, the new crop gets better prices. But, in which way the prices have increased. Market experts consider it better than that. Meanwhile, market experts are demanding to set a minimum price to control the prices of Basmati paddy. Experts believe that this decision will help in maintaining high prices of Basmati paddy and boost farm income.
