According to the new weekly report of the department, last year the total area under paddy inside the country was 425 lakh hectares, whereas so far this Kharif season the area under paddy inside the country is 401.56 lakh hectares, thus 23.44 lakh hectares in paddy area as compared to last year. A shortage of lakh hectares has been registered.

Slight improvement in the area of ​​pulse crops

According to the weekly report based on crop area released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, within a week, there has been a slight improvement in the area of ​​pulses crops inside the country. According to the report, the area under pulses crops was recorded at 131.92 lakh hectares last week, which has been recorded at 132.83 lakh hectares this week. In this way, there has been a slight improvement in the area under pulses. But, the area under pulses crops is still 5.46 lakh hectare less than last year.

Increase in area under sugarcane and cotton

According to the weekly report of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, like last week, the area under sugarcane and cotton continues to increase this Kharif season. The area under sugarcane has been recorded as 55.66 lakh hectare, while last year’s area under sugarcane was 55.22 lakh hectare. Similarly, the area under cotton has been recorded in excess of 127 lakh hectares, which was more than 118 lakh hectares last year.
