Kharif season crops have been hit by drought this time. Due to less rain in monsoon, this Kharif season in many states of the country. RiceCrops of pulses and oilseeds have been affected. For example, many states are facing drought due to less rainfall. As a result, the area under paddy, pulses and oilseeds crops was reduced due to this. The information of which was given by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare last week. In fact, the Ministry of Agriculture releases a report on the estimated area of Kharif crops every Friday. In the new report, there has been a marginal improvement in the area under paddy and pulses as compared to the previous week. But, even after this improvement, the fields of 24 lakh hectares belonging to last year’s paddy and pulses are dry.
Paddy area still less by 18.90 lakh hectare
According to the weekly report on crop area released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, till September 16, paddy has been planted in 399.03 lakh hectares. Whereas last year till this date, there was paddy crop in 417.93 lakh hectares. In this way, less paddy cultivation has been recorded in 18.90 lakh hectare in the current season. Whereas on September 9, the area under paddy had decreased in 20.52 lakh hectares as compared to last year. In this way, the area under paddy has increased by more than 1 lakh hectare in the country in a week.
Area under pulses crops is still 5.56 lakh hectares less
According to the weekly report on crop area released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the area under pulses crops in the country is still 5.56 lakh hectares less than last year. However, compared to September 9, there has been an improvement of 1 lakh hectare in the area under pulses. According to the report, the total area under pulses crops inside the country was 137.50 lakh hectares last year, which is currently recorded at 131.92 lakh hectares.
Rice production estimated to decline by 10 to 12 million tonnes
Due to monsoon this time less rain has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Due to the drought-like conditions created due to this, a large number of paddy crops have been affected in these four states. In view of this, the Union Food Ministry has issued an estimate of 10 to 12 million tonnes of decline in rice production in the Kharif season. However, during that time the ministry had told it to be a preliminary estimate. But, the manner in which there has been a marginal increase in the area under paddy, then it can be said that no major change can be expected in the estimate of rice production.
