FCI officials say surplus paddy to be procured in Punjab and Haryana UP , Lower price from Bihar and Rajasthan ‘ , Miller , Mandi Board officials and even state and central officials of the Food and Marketing Department are involved in this game. Although , State government officials argue that paddy production is higher than government estimates and improved varieties of paddy are yielding higher.
Does rice come from UP ?
, Which is not purchased by the government , It is sold in the open market. Similarly, the quantity of paddy coming from other states also remains high. According to one estimate, most of the paddy in Punjab comes from Rajasthan while rice comes directly from UP.
According to the Punjab Agriculture Department, this year the total 27.36 , Of which 6.50 Lakh hectares of basmati and 20.86 Lakh hectares non – Basmati. Kharif season 2020-21 Total in 673.53 Millions of Metric Tons of Paddy Procured , Of which 202.8 Million metric tons i.e. 30% Was alone from Punjab.
