Lumpy skin disease: UP government bans cattle trade, also bans movement

Lumpy skin disease is spreading rapidly in the country. Because of this, in 14 states of the country Lumpy skin disease cases have come so far. So more than 75 thousand cattle have died there. UP is also included in the states affected by lumpy skin disease. However, this disease has not yet knocked in most of the districts of UP. In such a situation, the UP government is in action mode to deal with lumpy skin disease. In this regard, the UP government has taken another important decision on Friday. Under which the UP government has banned the trade of cattle. So there has also been a ban on the movement of cattle.

Cattle trade banned from four states

Under the important decision taken by the UP government on Friday to combat and prevent lumpy skin disease, the UP government has banned the trade of cattle from 4 states. Under the new decision of the UP government, no one including the farmer will be able to trade cattle from Rajasthan, MP, Haryana and Delhi till further orders. Lumpy skin disease has spread from these states in UP. Along with this, the movement of cattle in any way has been banned.

In this regard, UP Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh said that this disease has spread to animals in 14 states of the country and it is ‘deadly for animals like coronavirus’ for humans. He said this viral disease is entering Uttar Pradesh through states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. He said that in view of this, the movement of animals has been banned by sealing the inter-state borders for the movement of cattle.

Cases have been reported from 28 districts of UP

Cases of lumpy skin disease have been reported from 28 districts of UP. These districts are Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly. Where 26,197 cows have been infected with lumpy skin disease so far. In which 16,872 have been treated. It is important to know here that lumpy skin disease has affected cows more. More than 18 lakh cattle infected across the country

So far more than 18 lakhs have been infected across the country due to lumpy skin disease. Out of which more than 12 lakh infected cattle have been reported in Rajasthan alone. In fact, the first case of lumpy skin disease was reported on 23 April from Kutch, Gujarat. From then till now i.e. in 5 months, Lumpy skin disease has spread its feet rapidly across the country.
