The government hopes that by selling more machines, the incidents of stubble burning will come down.
A spokesman of the state government said that applications are being invited by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the purchase of agricultural machinery at a discount for crop residue management. In which 50 percent subsidy will be given to the farmers in the individual category. That is, the government will give half the money that the machine will cost. Whereas, 80 percent grant is being given by farmers’ cooperative society, FPO, registered farmer society and panchayat for setting up custom hiring centers. That is, they will get the machine by paying only 20 percent money.

How will the beneficiaries be selected?
The officials of the Agriculture Department said that the selection of the beneficiaries under the said scheme would be done by the District Level Executive Committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district. After selection, farmers can buy stubble management machine from the manufacturer of their choice by negotiating with the agricultural machinery manufacturers included in the list. Agricultural machinery manufacturers can also get registered on the department’s portal for the supply of machines under the scheme.
Haryana is notorious for burning stubble
Haryana is a paddy producing state. Here the government had failed last year in doing stubble management. It is at number three in terms of incidents of stubble burning. According to a report of the Central Government, 6987 incidents of stubble burning were recorded in Haryana from 15 September 2021 to 30 November 2021.
In the same period in 2020, there were 4202 incidents of stubble burning here. In such a situation, it can be understood that the state government had failed to reduce the incidents of stubble burning last year. In such a situation, this time preparations are being done from now on. It remains to be seen how successful the state government will be in this endeavor.
