Crop Insurance Scheme: Farmers open front against arbitrariness of companies and banks

The central government is busy promoting the crop insurance scheme, but farmers have started opposing it. Regarding this problem, an organization named Kisan Mahapanchayat met Agriculture Commissioner Kanaram of the state in Jaipur. The president of the organization Rampal Jat said that the farmers are not getting compensation despite joining the crop insurance scheme.

For this, he gave the example of the farmers of Tonk district before the Agriculture Commissioner. Jat said that in the Kharif season of the year 2020, due to natural calamity, the entire crop was destroyed by water. The farmers lodged a complaint on the company’s toll free number, but did not get the compensation. Farmers are tired of making rounds of the offices of agriculture officers.

Farmer accuses bank

On July 31, 2021, Rs 1800 was deducted as premium of PM Fasal Bima Yojana from the account of State Bank of India farmer Gopi Lal Jat of Tonk district. The bank did not send the money to the insurance company. Farmer’s crop got submerged due to excessive rain. So who will compensate the loss?

There are also such flaws in the insurance plan

Rama’s wife Jaluram, resident of Dodwadiya Nagaur, got insured by the crop insurance scheme. He lodged a complaint on the toll free helpline number on crop damage. But the company surveyor changed the crop. The farmer did not get compensation for crop loss due to crop change. A farmer Rameshwar Prasad Chaudhary told that some farmers are getting insurance in two places. One is done by the bank, the other by the cooperative society, the same accounts of the same farmers are being insured twice.

Re-insurance of the same measles is wrong

Farmer leader Rampal Jat told the Agriculture Commissioner, these are just a few examples. There are many farmers whose crop insurance premium is deducted, they are not being informed even through policies and messages. Re-insurance of the same measles is wrong. Similarly, the crops kept in the fields are burnt, they are not compensated. The state government should write to the center to include it in the cover in insurance. There was also a demand to cover the disease of gram and paddy in crop insurance scheme.

On this occasion, Joint Director (Crops) Mukesh Kumar asked Mathur to try to get relief after listening to the farmers. Farmers Mahapanchayat State Minister Batti Lal Bairwa, Youth State President Rameshwar Prasad Choudhary, Jaipur General Secretary Nandlal Meena, Assembly Convenor Ram Gopal Gurjar, Phulera Sambhar President Jaluram Dodwadia, Peeplu President Gopilal Jat and Gaurishankar Malu and many farmers were present on this occasion.
