After a major disturbance, the institute has decided to withdraw the seed of this variety. This work is being done in the same way as many times automobile companies take back the vehicles. It has been told that after the complaint of low germination, the institute took this important decision to withdraw Basmati Paddy Seed. So that the farmers do not suffer and the credibility of the institution is maintained. If you have not sown, then return it by May 21. But for this you will have to give the original receipt of the purchase.

This variety of Basmati paddy is sown by the farmers of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, West UP and Uttarakhand. Director of the institute, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh said that the farmers who have planted this variety, if they show the original receipt of purchase at the center, they will be refunded the money or they will be given new seeds. Pusa Basmati 1509 is a very popular paddy variety.

Pusa did the test on the complaint

It has been told that a farmer had complained to the Karnal Center that its seed germination has been very low. After this the institute itself did the test. In which it was found that its germination is only 40 percent in one lot. Whereas in general it should be 80 to 90 percent. After this it was decided to take back the seeds of this variety.

When will the sale seed be returned?

Ashok Kumar Singh said that at the time of sale in Pusa Basmati 1509 paddy lots, the germination capacity was above the prescribed minimum standard of 80 percent. There is a possibility of lack of Seed Vigour in this. Because of this, there may be complaints of germination in the nursery. Therefore the Institute has decided to withdraw the Pusa Basmati 1509 seeds sold from Regional Station Karnal, in the period from 25 February 2022 to 4 April 2022.
